Horrible Video Games In Amazing Franchises

Let’s take a look at some questionable video games in otherwise phenomenal gaming franchise

Duke Nuker Forever

Duke-Nukem-Forever-PC

If you’re going to ‘go modern’, do it. If you’re going to ‘go retro’, do it. Just don’t go half-and-half and end up failing to appease fans of both approaches. While DNF is kind-of fun, is playable and can be enjoyed all the way until the end, it’s far away from what it should have been. – Bit-Gamer
You won’t find any lasting qualities in Duke Nukem Forever and it doesn’t have anything to compete against numerous modern games that have so much more to offer. – ActionTrip
I can’t think of anything fun throughout my time with the game. I did like some of the models of the monsters and the game never crashed on my PC, but that’s about it. I don’t blame Gearbox, but I wonder what 3D Realms was thinking all these years. – Gaming Nexus

Metal Gear Survive

A decent survival game with a rewarding, if uninspired, grind to its resource collecting and base management. – GamesRadar+
Metal Gear Survive is a brave move for Konami and a decent survival game – it’s just not particularly fun. If you like the more abrasive side of the medium, give it a go. Everyone else should probably stay away. – Trusted Reviews
Metal Gear Survive is just another middling survival game, with a name-drop that doesn’t do it any favors. – Cheat Code Central

Resident Evil 6

Even with a lifting on current-gen consoles, this is STILL Resident Evil 6 my friends, an action-focused third person action game… take it or leave it, but don’t expect a good, old “Resi”. – Eurogamer Italy
A bold but ultimately damned experiment, the game unfortunately does not offer any huge benefits in its PlayStation 4 re-release – The Digital Fix
Even though it looks more beautiful and crisp on this generation of consoles, Resident Evil 6 continues to be a game with a lack of identity and many, many problems. – GameOver.gr
It’s not enough to say that Resident Evil 6 is poor as a Resident Evil game. That alone implies there could be a quality experience if fans can get past their preconceptions and feelings of betrayal. No, Resident Evil 6 is poor by the standards of any game, not just the high ones set by its own legacy. – The Jimquisition

Sonic The Hedgehog

Sonic-the-Hedgehog-2

Sonic the Hedgehog may share its name with the Genesis original, but this game is even more broken than most of the other recent Sonic games have been. – GameSpot
SEGA’s decision to rush one of its most beloved franchises to the next-gen market has ended in a broken product that does not even deserve a rental. – Gaming Age
Not only are the voices horrible, as is the case for most Sonic games, but the story makes very little sense. It’s like if you took any basic Nintendo story like Mario saving the Princess, lengthened it to several hours long, and filled it with mindless details that make no logical sense at all. – GameBrink

Kingdom Hearts: Chains Of Memory

Seriously, though — for Kingdom Hearts fans who missed out on COM the first time, this is definitely the best way to play it. While the new stuff is small (a few so-so minigames in Hundred Acre Wood, additional voice acting from the Sixth Sense kid, etc.), my memory of Chain of Memories hasn’t changed: It’s a pleasant little title that reminds me how much I want Kingdom Hearts 3. – 1UP
This remake is solid fan service, but recycled content and disjointed exploration limit its appeal. – GameSpot
However, being on the Game Boy Advance instead of PlayStation 2, many players never got the chance to experience it. Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories is the long overdue PlayStation 2 remake of that game, and it is simultaneously very similar to and completely unlike the previous games in the one-of-a-kind series. – Gamesradar
