6 Amazing Video Games Sequels That Killed Their Franchises
“Max Payne 3 is disappointing” Really?
Publishers love forcing developers to make sequels of games that are successful in previous years and whether it’s for good or bad there should be a point where a video game franchise should stop for obvious reasons. Developers want to stop but Publishers want that sweet cash they get from fans of the series and sometimes developers are forced to create games that they don’t want to! Today we are counting down amazing that killed their franchise
Max Payne 3
Max Payne 3 is a solid game made for the PC, with incredible visuals and sound to go along with that. This is a no brainer for any action shooter fan out there. – Impulsegamer
Max Payne 3 is this generation’s most important third-person shooters. In PC version controls and visual effects are better than PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Max Payne comes back home. – Meristation
Despite the new setting Max Payne 3 captures the cynical dark atmosphere of the series perfectly. New gameplay elements like the cover-system are implemented very good, but the lack of innovation makes the action a bit tedious towards the end. Nonetheless Rockstar delivers a good game and even more important: it deserves the name Max Payne. – PC Games
Devil May Cry (2015)
The game really is just pure fun to play. On a high end PC, the game looks amazing in cut scenes and in the fast-paced combat. If you are an action game fan, you owe it to yourself to own DmC. You will not be disappointed. – ZTGD
In what seems like commonplace lately, the PC version of DmC: Devil May Cry is the definitive version to play. While the mouse and keyboard controls aren’t as precise as playing with a controller, the graphical upgrades and increase in frame rate make an already impressive game even more stunning. – Hardcore Gamer
Ninja Theory’s last game is an amazing experience. This is the most complete version of DMC Devil May Cry, although there is no support for DirectX 11 and the game suffer from some minor technical issues. – SpazioGames
Prince Of Persia – The Forgotten Sands
In no way is it a genuine Prince of Persia for this generation (we prefer to forget the 2008 title), but it does offer something that’s a little more challenging on the mind and reflexes than the typical third-person action/adventure. – Total Video Games
Just don’t expect it to do more than tread water in anyway whatsoever and you won’t be disappointed. – NZGames
The prince’s high-flying adventure is marred by camera issues and weak combat, but the excellent platforming is still loads of fun. – GameSpot
Burnout Paradise
Paradise is a wonderful game: it’s inventive, confident and brilliantly produced and just shows what’s possible when developers make the PS3 the lead console. If you’re even remotely into racing games, this is one you can’t afford to miss out on. – TheSixthAxis
The way the vehicles crumple, windshields shatter, and pieces of debris go flying in every direction is second to none, making you appreciate each and every impact. The only quibbles we have with the presentation are the absence of a driver, and one of the most annoying announcers ever. – GameTrailers
These minor hitches notwithstanding, Burnout Paradise is an excellent, solid ride for both solo and online gamers, with superb control, high production values, complete freedom, and so much obsessive, secret-hunting, gotta-catch-‘em-all lasting gameplay incentive that it’s almost ridiculous. – Game Revolution
Splinter Cell Blacklist
Blacklist sees Sam Fisher and his covert posse returning to the series’ sneaky-happy roots in good form, and it’s easily one of the best stealth offerings I’ve delved into in a long time. – GameFront
Fisher’s annoyingly sulky character, questionable controls when it comes to grabbing people next to doors, traditionally daft ending level and the buggy Uplay services – these are pretty much all the sins of Blacklist. They can be easily forgiven because the rest of the game is stealth action goodness. – Riot Pixels
Still, whether this is your first Splinter Cell or your eighth, you deserve to give it a shot because while it’s not the best Splinter Cell, it is one of them. – DarkStation
Watch Dogs 2
The UI is wonderful. You have so much information immediately available to you. Nudle Maps always has a mini-map in the lower left corner, giving you a good look at the area. Bringing up information on people gives you a crisp, clear window. Hacking offers a menu with easily recognizable icons, so you always know what your button presses will do. – Cheat Code Central
Most importantly, Watch Dogs 2 offers a sense of humor running through it that the series badly needed. You don’t need miserable family death stories in a ludicrous game about “smart cities” and cartoony hackers. You need writing that leans into the silliness, that has a laugh at its own expense, which is exactly what this game gets – The Jimquisition
The sincere belief in a pack mentality is just one reason why Watch Dogs 2 is such an improvement over its predecessor. – Slant Magazine
