MEDAL OF HONOR: ALLIED ASSAULT
If you’re just looking for the best shooter for the PC—a game that engages your senses, thrills your nerves, and impresses your neighbors—stop reading this right now and go get MoH: Allied Assault. – GamePro
Fun, pure and simple – the scenarios and environments it’s based on were paid for with blood, sweat, and tears. It’s makes the game an honor to play. – Hot Games
The true first gem of the year 2002 and depriving yourself of the privilege of playing this game is a crime punishable by death in some third world countries (not really). – GamePen
WARCRAFT III – REIGN OF CHAOS
Completely reinvented in glorious 3-D, WCIII spruces up the age-old premise—organize armies and send them into battle against opposing forces—with much-improved graphics and a new pyrotechnic spell-casting system. – Maxim
Astounding pre-rendered cinematics and a tightly woven storyline are backed by a substantial and varied single-player campaign. – Adrenaline Vault
Everything in the box, from the game itself to the terrific manual that has tons of info plus loads of extra background story for each of the races, is top notch and adds to the overall luster of the game. – IGN
BATTLEFIELD 1942
In addition to standard team-based first-person shooter action, Battlefield 1942 incorporates the brilliant gameplay concept of vehicles and other machinery. – G4 TV
For gamers thrilled by the action and heroes of movies based on World War II, or for any other red-blooded, meat-eating, chest-thumping, flatulating normal kinds of dudes, Battlefield 1942 will be virtual nirvana. – PC Gameworld
This is a whole new level of online first-person fragging, and though it’s not without its missteps, it’s about as close to the front lines as you’re gonna get while staring at your monitor….A very, very compelling game. – Game Revolution
For now, as long as you can find skilled teammates and aren’t getting pestered by the game’s technical problems, Battlefield 1942 can be, quite appropriately, a real blast. – GameSpot
MAFIA
Yet Mafia oozes class, polish, and style like no other game so far this year. To not “experience” Mafia is a far greater crime than any in the Salieri family ever committed.- Four Fat Chicks
Outside of my complaint with the racing level and a few very minor issues, Mafia is a really immersive game. The story is very good, and the cutscenes and voice acting are of the highest caliber. – Gamers’ Temple
For a superbly crafted single player experience you probably won’t find many to touch it, everything combines to create such a cinematic experience that you can’t help but find yourself completely encompassed into it. – Total Video Games
MORROWIND
Morrowind effortlessly grabs the other PC RPGs by the throat, swings them around, and leaves them in a heap on the side of the road. – GamePro
The most engrossing, deepest and open-ended videogame you’ll see for a very long time, at times it feels like more then a videogame, something to get completely caught up in and realise that time has no importance when you’re playing it. – Total Video Games
Shows more planning, talent (aesthetic, programming, and design) and creative vision than anything I’ve played in a very long time. – IGN
Walking down the steps into one of the larger cities, Balmora, for the first time is a moment that will stay with players for some time to come. It’s the best-looking RPG to date, undoubtedly, and certainly ranks among the most graphically-impressive games around. – Yahoo!
STAR WARS JEDI KNIGHT II – JEDI OUTCAST
Raven Software has taken a big chance, trying to cover all the bases with Jedi Knight 2. Luckily, it has paid off, as this is an excellent game. It’s got tons of stuff that players have been wanting since the first Jedi Knight, includes an engaging and fun multiplayer game, and delivers it all on the very stable and solid Quake 3 engine. – AtomicGamer
Combine excellent level design, a compelling storyline and amazing presentation and you’ve got a game that will keep fans hooked until you’ve completed very last little bit. – Total Video Games
An exceptional Star Wars action game that contains some of the best combat sequences since “Half-Life,” the most distinctive control mechanics since “Max Payne,” and the most involving plot in a Star Wars game since Jedi Knight. – GameSpot
