6 Horrible Video Games Sequels That Destroyed Their Whole Franchise

Video Game Sequels are either made to continue and expand the story and sometimes they are made to improve the gameplay mechanics, graphics and all the other things that were missing in the first game. The majority of the sequels ever made are pretty good and most of them surpass the original game. But sometimes a sequel can destroy the whole game reputation and today we are counting down the worst video game sequels that destroy the whole franchise.

MEDAL OF HONOR WARFIGHTER

MOHAWF.png

Medal of Honor: Warfighter doesn’t merge its cliched parts into a satisfying whole, making it just another middle-of-the-road military shooter. – GameSpot

Unfortunately, this is another game that cannot reach the quality of its predecessors, especially the first titles in the series. – Eurogamer Portugal

It wants to be respectful of military veterans and present a realistic, gritty experience with a heart string-tugging story that’s layered with a thrilling secret operations plot – but it’s so fundamentally jumbled, thrown together, and confusing that I can’t begin to recommend it. – Meristation

DINO CRISIS 3

Dino Crisis 3.jpg

Its presentation isn’t enough to warrant play. Remaining true to its roots in the last generation of gaming, Dino Crisis 3 features an extremely deplorable camera, mediocre action, and a B-rated story. – Gamer’s Pulse

DC3’s biggest problem is the visuals – not the look but the presentation. Camera angles constantly change perspective – often times during platform jumps – and you’re forced to suddenly change direction on the controller. –  GamePro

If, somehow, you’re able to get past the pervasive and ceaseless problems with the camera, underneath it is a halfway decent action game that suffers from repetitive gameplay, ceaseless backtracking of the “find the blue key and then run halfway across the map to use it” sort, and an utterly inane story. – GameShark

DUKE NUKEM FOREVER

Duke-Nukem-Forever-PC

If you’re going to ‘go modern’, do it. If you’re going to ‘go retro’, do it. Just don’t go half-and-half and end up failing to appease fans of both approaches. While DNF is kind-of fun, is playable and can be enjoyed all the way until the end, it’s far away from what it should have been. – Bit-Gamer

You won’t find any lasting qualities in Duke Nukem Forever and it doesn’t have anything to compete against numerous modern games that have so much more to offer. – ActionTrip

I can’t think of anything fun throughout my time with the game. I did like some of the models of the monsters and the game never crashed on my PC, but that’s about it. I don’t blame Gearbox, but I wonder what 3D Realms was thinking all these years. – Gaming Nexus

ALONE IN THE DARK

Alone In The Dark truly horrifies me. How can such a big-budget title actually get to the stores with such unfriendly controls and gameplay glitches? The game is clumsy, completely linear and absolutely no fun to play. – YouGamers

Nice visuals, great fire effects and valiant efforts at innovation don’t make up for boring combat, frustrating controls, poorly designed levels and a hackneyed story. – IGN

It has more than enough good ideas to make a brilliant, must-own game, but features even more bad game design and gameplay issues. As such it’s without doubt the biggest disappointment this generation of consoles has seen and a game that’s impossible to recommend. – VideoGamer

PERFECT DARK ZERO

When you’ve battled through all 14 single player levels, played it on co-op and worked your way through some solid multiplayer action, you won’t feel like you’ve played a next generation title; heck, you won’t even feel like you’ve played the best shooter out this Christmas. – Eurogamer

Play is especially intriguing online, where our hero’s acrobatic skills, ability to find cover, and state-of-the-art weaponry deliver death matches to die for – Maxim Online

Both superb and a mess, a console FPS that feels fun, tactical, exciting all at the same time as feeling frustrating, backwards and in places amateurish. – NTSC-uk

SOLDIER OF FORTUNE: PAYBACK

SOF1.jpg

If senseless, over-the-top violence can keep you entertained, you’ll be done with the single-player portion in several hours, after which you might want to get into the multiplayer. Yet, this is just another mundane aspect of the game, featuring nothing beyond the traditional deathmatch, CTF and so on. – ActionTrip

This shooter is a painful exercise in pattern memorization plus frustrating trial-and-error gameplay. – GameSpot

While I make it a goal to play every game I review to completion, there’s just no way that I am going to waste more my life playing this game. – Thunderbolt
